This logo was created by duplicating and rearranging fragments of the real logo.  Using nothing but pieces of letters from the logo itself ensured that the style of the letter edges would remain consistent throughout the new logo.  The first word could just as easily have been changed to several other words that are four to five letters long, to make an "apple inside" logo for the side of an iMac, for example.
